Thanks a lot Staurt, I did as i instructed and it worked. I got my hello world program to compile. One more thing what do you think is the best way for me to go about learning wxwindows. Any tutorials or books ? Thanks again. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Gilberd" <stu...@pa...> To: <dev...@li...> Sent: Sunday, February 11, 2001 6:23 PM Subject: RE: [Dev-C++] re: Help with GUI tool Please > Try creating a new project using new project, GUI toolkit, wx windows, Now > have a look at project options, the extra options there should always be > there for any wxwindows project. > |

I am trying to build a static library using Dev-C++. Has anyone been able to accomplish that? |
|
From: Web D. <www...@ya...> - 2001-02-10 16:56:13

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
FYI : I am using VC++ 6.0.
I ran the debugger and found the chunk of code where
the error gets generated and returned. It is below
between the asterisks. The code is in the file
C:\..\ATL\Include\ATLBASE.H.
We also observed that the "szModule" variable (which
should contain the path to the DLL) contained zeroes
(in the HEX representation) which turned out to be
periods (".") in the ASCII representation of the
contents of the section in memory allocated to it.
In order to see whether this was normal, I created a
component on my hard-drive and ran "Build All". The
resulting DLL not only registered but the "szModule"
variable had no zeroes or periods.
So it seems that the presence of the sets of two bytes
of zeroes (periods) consistently after every other set
of two bytes in the representation of the path to the
DLL may be responsible for the "Bad Arguement -
80070057" error code.
Do you have any tips on how to get around this?
Thanks once more.
Akochi
P.S. the code is below:

(apologies if you have read my similar post in the Forum) Hi I am using dev c++ 4.01 (I have tried this with 4.00 as well), I am trying to create a wxWindows app. But after I have created a project the extra libs and complier options do not save ie if I close and reopen the project they are gone and the app no longer compiles (actually lnking fails). The same thing seems to happen with all other projects that require extra libs, compiler opts etc. It happens with a GTK project and a Open GL project. It seems to me that when I click "Save all" the project options are not being saved as I have checked the project file after saving and the options I have added are not there. Is this something I am doing wrong? Is it something I can fix? or is it a bug? Thanks heaps Stuart |

Hi, I'm just figuring this stuff out, so bear with me. I'm having the time of my life dealing with all the new stuff I'm learning. I already know some C++ but that was back in the DOS days and I'm new to the Win32 stuff. Anyway I'm having this really frustrating problem. When I save or close a file, or close the IDE, I get: Access Violation at address 00403CA0 in module 'DEVCPP.EXE". Read of address 2A499B2D. -or- Access Violation at address 00402891 in module 'DEVCPP.EXE". Read of address 011AFFFC. -or something similar. It is intermittent; sometimes doesn't happen for a week, then keeps happening all the time (like now :-)). I have also noticed that it usually happens when I cut and paste code from other apps into Dev C++. If there is a fix or a workaround please let me know. Thanks, E |

DllRegisterServer is the function used to register an in-proc COM object. You can search for the return code in the header winerror.h, or search on Microsoft's site for it. I've looked in the file and it's about invalid args. What arguments are being passed (if you have the source)? A Dev-C++ project is a way to keep all source (.c or .cpp) and header files (.h) together in order to compile the whole lot with just clicking on the compile project button. Therefore, if you want to do windows programming you just use the same technique as with other compilers. You add your source files into a project and then compile the lot. Dev-C++ will make all the compiling and linking for you. I don't know if that answers your question, but don't hesitate to ask if you need more information. Hi, I am working on some DLLs which were created by another developer. When I do a build all on my machine (which is different from the one on which the components were created), I get the following message each time: RegSvr32: DllRegisterServer in <FILENAME>.dll failed. Return code was: 0x80070057 <FILENAME>.dll - 0 error(s), 0 warning(s) I understand that the returned error code means that an invalid parameter was passed (somewhere). Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? P.S. I am stuck and unable to test my work because the above problem. Thanks in advance, Akochi __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! Mail - only $35 a year! http://personal.mail.yahoo.com/ |

you should intialize random number with
#include <time.h>
.
.
.
srand( time (0) );
messpool = rand() %12;
By the way, if you need a number between x and y you need to write:
myuNumber = x + rand() % y;
Hope it helps you
