You need to go to Settings and Privacy/Security and allow it to install... it is a common issue with Apple not allowing install from anything not coming from an AppStore download... it will work. We do recommend the 1.9.3 version for issues with the new version. It is usually seen on older macOS with older chips but have a few issues... the workaround solution is to go to Files (here in menu) and download 1.9.3 .

I too would love to have a newer version on x86 Mac. I will need to switch to using something else because of the lack of support for older Macs.

I am not a smart computer guy, so this might be bad practice. I did as you suggested, downloaded and installed the 1.9.3.deb. sudo apt install ~/Downloads/projectlibre_1.9.3-1.deb But ran into issues preventing me from accessing the right-click menu in the worksheet section (As others have.) - apparently caused by the program using the system default java version, in my case openjdk-17, when it needs no later than version 11. I did not find any fixes not requiring me to change the system default...

I got a similar behavior but, the program didn't crash. However, it took 10 - 30 seconds for the Save as dialog to open up the first time after program start. After the first time, the dialog opened up right away. The same behavior was observed when selecting Open project directly after program start.

Oh goodness I never thought to use the PgDown key to effectively "scroll down". Thank you. And yes, I can see the value, if you have many columns, you may prefer to scroll horizontally vs vertically.

It is actually a difference of opinion as the non-Gantt views scroll vertically... there are people who want the Gantt chart to scroll to the right to see tasks.... you can always cntrl down or drag the bar down on the far right of the screen..... some people prefer the current method but there is certainly feedback other people would prefer verticle.

ProjectLibre's new release only runs on the new macOS with M silicon. It does not run with the x86 older chips. Apple has discontinued support as well. If you need to run on an older Mac then go to Files here and download version 1.9.3. If you are on the M chip like the above messages... check if you have virus protection conflict or a network issue allowing.... you still do need to to to Security / Preferences and Allow the installation as it is downloaded from Sourceforge not their app store

That is odd.... we litterally have many thousands of successful installations on macOS with M silicon. There are multiple messages here... wondering if you have gone to Systems Preferences and allowed it to install.... or do you have virus software/network software causing a conflict?

I am able to download ProjectLibre version 1.9.8, but unable to start the program in Mac OS Sequoia 15.5. After giving permits to start installation, the Project Libre logo appears in the Dock bar, but it disappears after 1-2 seconds.

Many thanks! The recommended workaround with the .tar.gz instead of .deb works on debian 12 bookworm stable (and derivates). Single issue left was a java version mismatch. I had openjdk-17-jre installed, which still was not enough. I would suggest for now downloading the version 1.9.3 .deb You can find it in the Files folder here. The other workaround if you do want 1.9.8 : Download the tar.gz version of ProjectLibre instead of the .deb. Manually extract and run the executable from the terminal using java -jar. Ensure you have Java 11+ installed (openjdk-11-jre works well on Debian Bookworm).

The new release runs on Linux (.deb and .rpm) Windows and macOS Silicon chips. The new 1.9.8 only runs on Apple silicon not the x86 chips. You can go to Sourceforge and download 1.9.3 and it will run on the older x86 chips

The official ProjectLibre .dmg installer for macOS ships all of its native dependencies (including HarfBuzz) inside the app bundle. So if you install from the .dmg and you don’t already have HarfBuzz on your system, the installer will still complete successfully and you won’t need to brew install harfbuzz. The standalone DMG is fully self-contained.

Yes, you should either run 1.9.3 or follow the instructions below to run the .jar file. ProjectLibre's team spent a lot of time preparing Linux (.deb and .rpm) and Windows (.msi) and macOS (.dmg). Just a note the dmg is for Apple Silicon and won’t work for x86. Run 1.9.3 or follow the instructions below if you are using an older Mac. When there are compatibility problems, customers can still install Java 21, download the jar and double click on it.

Must start on restriction set to a later date than the project start date sadly doesn't change the situation anonymous reportet on 2021-09-22 for me. Endless google and chatgpt searches and hours of videos haven't given me another clue on what to try. That would explain everything but I don't know why I would have such an old version when many newer versions are available. However I will not rush to update! Which java are you running, Bob? I'm running 17, it looks like David is running 11. This error is not a bug in the code, but due to a change in Java policy. Java 7 may have broken projectLibre and Java 9 and greater should definitely break it.
