I just want to add: 
the rpm files I mentioned in my email a minute before are the latest
versions available at ...
ftp://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/unix/linux/Mandrake-devel/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/
or ...
ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/Mandrake-devel/cooker/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/

The files on the Mandrake 9.0 CD's are some weeks older, 
but will do the same in case they fit in the installation 
of your running system.
